2026 Club Tryouts
Join us for the 2026–2027 Minnesota Freeze Volleyball Club season!
We are excited to welcome new and returning athletes to Freeze Volleyball! Our tryout process is designed to help us build competitive, well-balanced teams while giving families a clear understanding of what to expect.

Location: H4 Sports Academy in Edina
(formerly Athletic Gaines)
All players must register online before attending tryouts.
Tryout registration includes important information regarding our tryout and selection process, season commitment expectations, player and parent agreements, and financial policies. Families will be asked to review and acknowledge this information as part of registration.
Tryout fees are non-refundable, regardless of whether a player attends tryouts or is offered a position within the club.
10s–12s No-Cut Policy
We are excited to offer a no-cut policy for our 10s–12s age groups, meaning every registered athlete who attends tryouts will be offered a position on a Freeze club team.
Because we have a limited number of teams and available roster spots, registration may close once we reach our maximum capacity. We encourage families to register early.
Important Tryout Information
Please read the tryout information below to ensure you're fully prepared for the day. Being informed will help everything run smoothly!
Age Divisions
Make sure you know your child's age division before you register for tryouts.

Players who were born on or after July 1, 2008 (18 years or younger) who shall neither have competed nor are in a grade higher than the eleventh grade (11th) during the current academic year will be allowed to participate at the USA JNC on 17 and under teams.

18 and Under : Born on or after July 1, 2008 OR Players who were born on or after July 1, 2007 AND a high school student in the twelfth (12th) grade or below during some part of the current academic year.
Tryout Process
Arrival & Check-In
Check-in begins at 8:30 AM.
Both the player and a parent/guardian must check in for tryouts. A parent or guardian must remain available during the tryout process and must be present to complete commitment paperwork if their athlete is offered a position with Freeze.
Tryouts begin promptly at 9:00 AM.
Parent Meeting
At 9:00 AM, players will begin tryouts with our coaching staff while the Club Director holds a parent meeting on the turf area inside H4 Sports Academy.
During this meeting, we will walk families through the tryout and selection process, explain what to expect that day, review next steps, and answer questions.
Following the parent meeting, parents may wait in their vehicle or nearby while tryouts are taking place. If your daughter is offered a position with Freeze, she will contact you or come get you from the parking lot so you can meet her inside to complete the required commitment paperwork and initial payment.
Player Evaluations
Throughout tryouts, our coaches will evaluate athletes based on a variety of factors, including:

Overall team fit
Our teams generally consist of around 10–11 players, although roster sizes may vary depending on the needs of each team and age group.
Club Acceptance & Commitment
Players may be offered a position with Minnesota Freeze Volleyball Club during tryouts.
If your athlete is offered a club position, families should be prepared to accept and commit to Freeze at that time. A parent/guardian must be present to complete the required commitment paperwork and initial payment.
Because we are actively forming teams during the tryout process, we cannot hold roster positions while families take additional time to think or make a decision. If a position is not accepted at the time it is offered, that position may be offered to another athlete.
Team Placement
Specific team rosters will not be finalized on tryout day. When your athlete is offered and accepts a position at tryouts, she is committing to Minnesota Freeze Volleyball Club, not a specific team.
Following tryouts, athletes will participate in additional evaluation practices before final team rosters are determined. These practices give our coaches more time to evaluate players together and determine the best team placement for each athlete.
14s & Under – Tentative Evaluation Dates
Tuesday, November 3 | 5:00–7:00 PM
Saturday, November 7 | 1:00–3:00 PM
Tuesday, November 10 | 5:00–7:00 PM
Saturday, November 14 | 1:00–3:00 PM
Not all age groups will need to attend every date. Specific evaluation schedules will be communicated to families.
15s & Up – Tentative Evaluation Dates
Monday, November 16
Tuesday, November 17
Wednesday, November 18
Evaluation practices will take place from either 5:00–7:00 PM or 7:00–9:00 PM, depending on age group.
Please Note: All evaluation dates and times are tentative and subject to change. Families will receive their specific schedules once finalized.
Families should understand that accepting a position with Freeze is a commitment to the club and the team placement determined through our evaluation process.
Team Fees
When accepting a position with Freeze at tryouts, families will be required to make a $1,000 payment toward their season team fee.
Final team fees vary by team and will depend on the team your athlete is placed on following our evaluation process. The $1,000 payment made at tryouts will be applied toward that team fee, and families will be responsible for the full team fee associated with their athlete's final team placement.
What Players Should Bring
Players should arrive ready to play and bring:
Appropriate volleyball apparel
Kneepads
Court shoes
A labeled water bottle
Please make sure athletes are dressed and ready to begin promptly at 9:00 AM.
